A Girl Has Gotta Have a Dream!

Hey, Gabriel Girls!

Do you have a dream? A big dream? If not, it's time to get one.

Why is it important to have a dream? Because God said in the Bible that a person without a dream will die (Proverbs 29: 18). Not die physically, necessarily, but die spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically.

WOW! That is serious stuff!

What is a dream? A dream is a revelation from God that usually comes in the form of a burning desire to be or to do something.  For example, many years ago, I had a burning desire to be a writer, so I became a writer. I have a burning desire to be like Jesus, so I am becoming more and more like Jesus.

Where do dreams come from? They come from God. They are God's gift to you to inspire you to fulfill His purposes in the earth.

Some dreams, however, are not from God but from our own selfish ambition. It is important to know the difference.

How can you know if a dream is from God or from your own selfish desires?  Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

1--Will my dream glorify God? Will it make Him famous instead of making me famous?

2--Will my dream help other people, or will it benefit only me?

3--Is my dream beyond my human ability to achieve? In other words, do I need a miracle from God to achieve my dream?

If you can answer yes to these three questions, then your dream is from God.

But what if you don't have a dream? What should you do?

Simple. Ask God to give you His dream for your life. Then keep your eyes open as He answers your request.

Dreams are the stuff of life. Dreams will keep you young. Dreams will keep you happy. Dreams will help you to change the world for Jesus.

Go get a dream! :)

Dreams and Pizza

What do dreams have to do with pizza? Well, quite a bit, as you’ll see if you keep reading.

Let’s talk about dreams first. Do you dream at night? Most girls dream.  Some dream a lot; others dream less frequently. But everyone dreams at one time or another.

Why do you think we dream? Here’s the answer: Dreams are one of God’s ways of talking to us. Did you know that? So, it’s very important to pay attention to our dreams.

Most dreams happen at night. They are called, simply, dreams. If a dream happens while a person is awake, it’s called a vision or a trance.

There are many instances in the Bible of people receiving messages from God through their dreams and visions. These messages were extremely important to their lives. Many of the messages protected them from harm or helped them make a wise decision instead of a foolish one.

Let’s take a look at a few people in the Bible who had dreams and visions that changed the course of history:

---In a vision God gave Abraham the promise that He would one day send the Messiah to save us.

---In a dream God told Joseph of the Coat of Many Colors that he would one day help his family survive during a time of great famine.

---In a dream God spoke to Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, to take Mary and the Christ Child to Egypt to escape being killed by the wicked King Herod.

---In a vision, God gave the Apostle John the entire Book of Revelation so that we can know what will happen before Jesus returns to earth to rule and reign.

God still speaks to us today through our dreams, so it’s very important to pay attention to them. Some people think that dreams come from eating last night’s pizza and getting indigestion. But this is rarely true.

It’s important to write down our dreams. So keep a notebook and pen by your bed. If you have a dream, write down the following information when you wake up:

    1) The date of your dream.
    2) The time you woke up.
    3) The feeling you had when you woke up from your dream. Were you afraid, happy, worried, excited, confused?
    4) The color of your dream. Was it in color, black and white, brightly colored, or muted?
    5) The names of the people in your dream if there were any.

After you’ve written this down, ask Holy Spirit to show you what your dream means. He may show you right away, or He may show you over time. So, be patient and don’t get discouraged. Holy Spirit will always show you what your dream means when you ask Him.

Keep a journal of your dreams. I’ve been keeping a journal of my dreams for a long time. Every once in a while, I re-read my dreams to keep God’s messages to me fresh in my mind. Would you believe that this blog is the result of a dream I had?  God showed me that I was to write a blog for teen girls.  He even gave me your name: Gabriel Girls!  How cool is that?

If you are having trouble figuring out what your dreams mean, write to me. I’ve been trained in dream interpretation, and I would be happy to help you.

Also, if you want to share a dream here on this blog, please feel free to do so. We can all pitch in to help you decipher what your dream means.

With love in the Lion of Judah (That’s another name for Jesus!),
